Help make Christmas brighter for someone in need by filling a bag with the essentials for Share the Dignity’s ‘It’s in the bag’ campaign.
It’s in the Bag is one of Australia’s most loved Christmas appeals, where they encourage everyday Australians to put together Adult, Teen or Mum and Bub bags filled with essential items, and maybe some everyday luxuries and a handwritten note, to donate to someone in need for Christmas.
The support helps make Christmas brighter for women and girls waking up in a domestic violence refuge or homeless shelter with donations distributed to over 3,000 charities nationwide by dedicated volunteers.
In 2019 Share the Dignity were collecting over 130,000 bags, but in recent years they have only been collecting around 80,000 so they are desperate for more donations.
Collection points will open at Bunnings stores nationwide from 15 November until 1 December 2024.
Essentials that must be in the bag include:
- Shampoo
- Conditioner
- Roll-on deodorant
- Toothbrush
- Toothpaste
- Soap/Body wash
- Period products
Anything additional is up to you (ideas include a water bottle, scrunchies, hairbrush, skincare, or makeup).
Share the Dignity collect three types of bags for Its in the Bag campaign to ensure those in need receive the items best suited to them.
- Adult bags
- Teen bags
- Mums & Bubs bags
Bags should be large, brand new or like-new condition and ideally can close with zipping or clasp.
