Frocktober | Support Ovarian Cancer Research | Oct 2020

Frocktober 2020

Frocktober is the campaign that empowers women around Australia to channel their creative flair through their favourite frocks, all while raising urgently-needed funds for the OCRF’s innovative research projects that help to shine a light on ovarian cancer.

Around 1800 Australian women, and 322,000 women worldwide, are diagnosed with ovarian cancer each year. Despite how lethal this disease is, it is still relatively unknown and underfunded, resulting in stagnating survival rates.

For a day, a week or the whole month of October, something as simple as the clothes we put on our back has the potential to start important conversations, raising awareness of the lack of early detection method, of women’s experiences, and of how we as a community can do more to support ovarian cancer research.

The 8 Hour Challenge:

Sadly, one Australian woman loses her life to ovarian cancer every 8 hours.

In light of current restrictions in place in parts of Australia, Frocktober are introducing more ways to frock up this month. Take part in the ‘8-Hour Frocktober Challenge’ from home and share your involvement across social media.

  • Share a favourite frock photo on social media
  • Include a Frocktober Fact and tag @ocrf, #8hourchallenge and #frocktober
  • Nominate a friend to take up the challenge within 8 hours
  • Sell or hold a #Frocktion for the dress in your photo, and donate the proceeds to the OCRF

Anyone can participate, whether you are registered for Frocktober, or not. You can sell your dress however you choose, whether you use Facebook Marketplace, eBay, Depop or another method—all frocks sold will support vital ovarian cancer research.
