Dog Friendly National Parks in South Australia
If you are looking for nature reserves and parks where you are allowed to walk your dog, here are the places where you can take your pet on your family adventure.
Most South Australian national parks do not allow dogs, as they can disturb protected native wildlife and damage sensitive habitats, however there are some exceptions. Some parks and reserves have designated areas or trails where dogs are allowed, with conservation parks and recreation parks often more flexible than national parks.
Dogs are welcome at many of South Australia’s national parks – but there are rules to follow. Dogs must remain on a leash at all times (no longer than 2 metres long) and be sure to go prepared with doggy bags and pick up after your pet.
Dogs are allowed in some of Adelaide’s most popular parks, like Belair, Onkaparinga River and Para Wirra. Remember to remain on designated walking trails and be aware of dangers like snakes during the warmer months.
