It’s back! The Adelaide Central Market will host Seafood + Sounds during a two-day celebration of South Australian seafood and music in October.
Back by popular demand, this highly anticipated event returns with street eats and seafood specials from traders, accompanied by a program of live music, cooking demonstration by iconic South Australian chefs, pop-up oyster bar and the ever-popular Chilli Crab Shack.
Highlights include:
- Mouthwatering street eats and seafood specials from Market traders
- A lively program of live music to create a festive atmosphere
- Engaging cooking demonstrations showcasing the versatility of South Australian seafood
- A pop-up oyster bar serving fresh and delicious oysters
- The return of the crowd-favourite Chilli Crab Shack
Market customers can learn from the best with demonstrations by Tasting Australia Co-Festival Director Chef Kane Pollard alongside Mandy Hall, and Callum Hann from Sprout, where you’ll learn how to cook-up affordable local seafood that families will love.
Market traders will also be joining the event with a range of special offerings available across the two-day event. Think Prawn & Octopus Pizza from Atlas Continental, Peruvian Ceviche from Cumbia Bar Kitchen and Thai style Coffin Bay oysters from Angelakis. Bros. Seafood.
Customers will be entertained with jazzy tunes by local musicians Jazz in Cheek, the Atlantic Street Band, Sabor a Cuba and LENI + Jack Degenhart. For the little shoppers, kids can enjoy a free sea creatures art workshop by Little Picassos and free sea face painting on the Saturday morning.
New to Seafood + Sounds this year is the inclusion of the Market’s latest seafood specialist, Fair Seafood, who guarantee the shortest path from ocean to plate with full traceability on all produce. Guests will enjoy Fair Seafood delicacies with matched Deviation Road wines at their oyster and Prosecco pop-up bar and Never Never Oyster Shell Martinis ‘Shellies’ – a mini martini served in an oyster shell!
What is now an icon of Seafood + Sounds, the ever popular and two-day only Chilli Crab Shack will serve mouth-watering Asian-style chilli crab using local Market produce and fresh SA blue swimmer crabs. Armed with an oversized crab bib, customers are encouraged to dig in and get messy, as they enjoy a local wine, live music and Market vibes. Visitors are encouraged to secure their serve before the event by booking online as they sell-out every year.
