Kodomo no Hi Japan Festival, South Australia’s largest Japanese cultural festival, is celebrating 29 years in 2024.
Kodomo no Hi is Adelaide’s largest Japanese Festival, held annually since 1995. The Festival is a celebration of the cultural and social links between the people of Japan and Australia. It is a great day for people of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy Japanese music, performances, craft, food, martial arts and much more. Children’s activities include fish scooping, origami and calligraphy.
Children’s Day (こどもの日, Kodomo no Hi) is a Japanese national holiday which takes place annually on May 5, the fifth day of the fifth month, and is the final celebration in Golden Week. It is a day set aside to respect children’s personalities and to celebrate their happiness.
Entry Fees:
- $5 per person
- $10 per family (4 individuals maximum; adults must be accompanied by a child i.e. 1 adult, 3 children/2 adults, 2 children)
- Babies in prams/strollers free
The Kodomo no Hi Japan Festival is held at the Thebarton Community Centre, located on the corner of South Road and Ashwin Parade in Torrensville (opposite Brickworks Market). Free parking is available, entry is via Ashwin Parade. Disabled Parking is also available, entering from South Road.
Kodomo no Hi Japan Festival is organised by the Japan Australia Friendship Association (JAFA).
