Reindeer Biscuits – Simple Instructions for Kids

These Reindeer Biscuits are a favourite of ours at Christmas time and are super easy to make. I make the icing and then the kids take over the rest. They are great for Christmas parties, for giving as gifts and of course on Christmas day. We have also made Reindeer Cupcakes too (scroll to the end for pic).

What You Need:

  • Pure Icing Sugar – this sets hard (unlike soft icing sugar) – just add water to the icing sugar and mix together until you get an easy consistency to smooth over biscuits.
  • Arnott’s Milk Arrowroot Biscuits or any other similar plain biscuits
  • Pretzels (for the ears)
  • Jaffas (or choc orange balls) for the nose
  • Milk Chocolate Chips (the cooking ones you put into choc chip biscuits) for the eyes
  • Tube of Writing Icing in Pink to draw the mouth (can be omitted)

Watch our video on how to make the reindeer biscuits:

Steps:

It’s as simple as that.

For those a bit inclined to be a little on the control freak or OCD side, I have learnt to take a deep breath and don’t look too closely when the kids make these on their own. The icing may not be spread evenly over the biscuit and the eyes, nose and mouth may not be aligned consistently. This is not MasterChef. These biscuits will be made with love and Christmas joy that only little people can provide. Delicious!

Reindeer Cupcakes

Simply purchase your favourite cupcake mix (or make from scratch if you prefer) and follow the directions on the box. Once they are out of the oven and completely cold you can ice and decorate in the same way as the biscuits.
