Find an Adelaide Outdoor Swimming Pool

As the weather starts to heat up in Spring, you will find most of Adelaide’s public outdoor swimming pools are open from October through to March, with some opening a little earlier and closing a bit later. Below you will find a list of outdoor swimming pools around Adelaide along with their location and season opening dates.  Occasionally pools are closed to the public for special events and activities, so be sure to check with them directly before planning a day at the pool.

Adelaide Hills Swimming Centre

  • 8 Nairne Rd, Woodside

Notes:

Services include three heated, shaded pools, qualified lifeguards, squad training, swimming classes, lap swimming, showers, disabled facilities.


George Bolton Swimming Centre (Burnside Pool)

  • Cnr Greenhill Rd & Howard Tce, Hazelwood Park
  • The 2019/20 season commences Saturday 21 September 2019 and concludes Sunday 26 April 2020

Notes:

All outdoor pools are heated to 27 degrees; main pool is an 8 lane, 50 metre lap pool with a sloped depth from 1.1 to 1.8 metres. (there is either ramp or step entry into the pool and an aquatic wheelchair is available at the pool to assist with entry); learner’s pool features underwater observation windows; interactive play equipment and toddler’s pool; spa and steamroom; cafe/kiosk; playgrounds, picnic seating and free electric BBQs; changerooms.

Marion Swimming Centre (with Waterslides)

Notes:

Facilities include a 50m, eight-lane, heated Olympic Pool; two smaller pools that are heated, fully shaded and offer a sun-safe respite for younger children and toddlers; two slides, both starting from the top of the 10m platform; change rooms, lockers, shower and bathroom facilities, BBQs & kiosk.


Norwood Swimming Centre

Notes:

Facilities include a shaded toddler pool, 50 metre main pool, inflatable obstacle course (every Sunday between 12.30pm and 3.30pm), change rooms, shower and bathroom facilities, BBQs & kiosk.


Payneham Memorial Swimming Centre

Facilities include a toddler paddle pool, learner medium sized pool, Olympic sized pool, change rooms, bathroom and showers, BBQs, kiosk and carpark.


Salisbury Swimming Centre

Notes:

Located amongst the beautiful surroundings of the Salisbury Recreation Precinct, features a 25m and 50m outdoor swimming pools as well as a toddler pool; equipped with a playground, free electric BBQ’s, large shaded grassed areas and kiosk.

The tennis complex has eight floodlit, state-of-the-art surfaced courts, with four featuring the Plexi-cushion surface used at the Australian Open. These courts are the only ones in South Australia outside of Memorial Drive in Adelaide, to feature this surface.

October to April – Every weekend and public holidays from 10.30am – 5pm (39ºC and over 10am – 1pm then 7pm – 9pm)

May to September – Every weekend and public holidays from 11am – 4pm (16ºC and below or raining closed)

Summer School Holidays – Monday and Tuesday 10am – 5.30pm / Wednesday to Sunday 10am – 9.30pm

Splash Town Copper Coast {FREE}

Notes:

A FREE to use community water park featuring kids slide, racer slides, large tipping bucket, water mushrooms and more. New shade sails to be added in 2020.


Tusmore Park wading pool

Tusmore Park wading pool {FREE}

Notes:

Tusmore Park is a popular destination for families, so please be safety aware when using the wading pool.  As the 300 mm deep pool is unsupervised, children using the wading pool are to be supervised by a parent or carer at all times.


Unley Swimming Centre

  • Ethel Street, Forestville
  • 2019/20 season open from 14 September 2019 to 26 April 2020

Facilities include a 50m eight lane Olympic pool heated to a pleasant 26.5 degrees throughout the entire season; junior and toddler pools; change rooms and lockers.


Waterworld Aquatic Centre (with Waterslides)

Notes:

An outdoor swimming centre with a 50m pool and learners pools, a curly slide and two racing slides, splash pad, plenty of shaded areas, a café and free barbecue facilities, wheelchair friendly and has picnic tables, toilets, showers and lockers.
