Point Turton Nature Playspace and Bike Track

The Point Turton Nature Playspace and Bike Track on the Yorke Peninsula was upgraded and re-opened in 2019. It’s a great regional playground in this small seaside town, just up the road from the Point Turton Caravan Park, with the beach right in front.

The wonderful nature inspired playspace has been developed for the community and visitors to the area and has plenty to keep kids happy for a while. It has toilets but is not fenced – however it’s generally not a busy road.

The playspace includes the following:

  • Bike track – built into the hill above the playground, it’s a great dirt track for youngsters.
  • Picnic shelter
  • Play equipment including embankment slide, mound slide, timber frame swing, basket swing, climbing structure, balance logs, hand pump water feature, and sand play.
  • Landscaping including deck, canopy, pathways, limestone seating walls and plantings.

The playspace concept was done by Peter Semple Landscape Architects and it was developed with community involvement and volunteers. Read more about it here.

This is a great stop for a play if you are staying in Point Turton or passing through the area. Bring your bikes for the bike track – you could ride here from the caravan park. The natural aspect of the playspace encourages imaginative play. There’s no shade though, so be sure to take hats and sunscreen, and visit early morning or in the evenings on hot days.
