Tavern on Turton – Family Dining in Point Turton
by Katrina Gogel
Tavern on Turton boasts relaxed family dining and sensational sea views in South Australia’s beautiful Point Turton. Located on the Southern Yorke Peninsula, it is approximately 2.5 hours’ drive from Adelaide.
The owners aim is to ‘bring back the feeling of unhurried dining and encourage people to take time to enjoy food and each other’s company’ and we think they have achieved this with their delicious food and relaxed, family-friendly vibe.
The tavern has a huge, modern dining area with big windows and plenty of seating. An enclosed kids play space is conveniently located next to the open dining area, making it easy for parents to sit back and enjoy their meal while little ones play close by.

The menu includes well priced, value-for-money main meals and an extensive specials board. We generally order the South Australian seafood from their menu when we visit (such as the Salt and Pepper squid) and it’s always delicious! Kids meals (or ‘lil’ nippers’) are also of good size, and come with a strawberry or chocolate ice cream.

There’s also outdoor dining under the front verandah on offer. This overlooks a large lawned area and is perfect for older kids to run around on. A separate bar and pool table are located indoors adjacent the dining room.
If driving, there is plenty of on-site car parking, or it’s only a two minute walk uphill from the local jetty and caravan park.

Knowing that we will always have a great feed and the kids will be entertained, the Tavern on Turton is our go-to when we holiday on the Southern Yorke Peninsula.
Location:
154 Bayview Road, Point Turton (situated on the hill directly above the caravan park and jetty)
