Top Family Friendly things to do this Spring with Kids in Adelaide
Spring is the perfect time to get outdoors as a family and experience the buzz of excitement that comes with warmer weather and longer days. There’s no better time to explore Adelaide’s walking trails, parks, gardens and playgrounds, visit a wildlife park or reservoir. We’ve included some of our favourite places to visit around Adelaide plus a few different ideas for things to do with your kids.
Get active at Woodhouse Activity Centre
Only 10 minutes drive up the South Eastern Freeway, explore hectares of native bushland and try over 30 obstacles on Woody’s Challenge Hill, try a scavenger hunt or disc golf or tube sliding (weekends only). There are also camping options if you’re after a fantastic camp ground with great facilities.
Space Discovery Centre
Explore the latest innovations in space technologies and learn about Australia’s role in expanding national and international space activities. Read more here
Mod Museum
A futuristic museum of discovery with changing exhibitions. Although the exhibitions are aimed at teenagers and young adults, some primary school kids will enjoy some of the concepts and interactive displays. The current exhibition runs until November. Read more about MOD Museum here.
Carrick Hill and the Storybook Trail
This is one of our favourite destinations with something for everyone to appreciate – scenic views, beautiful gardens to meander and the delightful Storybook Trail, complete with a hobbit house, cubby houses to play in and plenty of book characters to discover – a great adventure for the kids. Hallett Cove Conservation Park
Explore the boardwalks and trails of the Hallett Cove Conservation Park and take in the spectacular views of Gulf St Vincent. Read more here
Morialta Conservation Park & Nature Playground
Morialta Conservation Park is great for young families – the walk to the First Falls is pretty flat and ok to do with a pram. Explore the creeks and look out for plenty of wildlife – we love to do some koala spotting and counting how many we see. Make sure you also stop at the amazing nature playround. Read our review here
Waite Arboretum
A wonderful spot with over 30 hectares to have a rambling walk and is open free to the public. You’ll find over 800 species of plants with every tree labelled. There’s plenty to explore here, including the fabulous labyrinth. Read more here
National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant & #Pageant at Home
Adelaide’s much loved Christmas Pageant is again being held at Adelaide Oval. It will also be streamed into households across South Australia, so if you don’t manage to nab tickets, you can watch from home with family and friends. Put the Christmas tree up, decorate your house, munch on your favourite snacks and enjoy watching all the action in the comfort of your own home. Read more here
Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens
Mount Lofty Botanic Garden is beautiful in every season. In spring, be sure to head to Magnolia Gully and the South East Asian Gully to see the Magnolias and Camellias at the peak of their flowering season. Remember to take a picnic lunch. Read our review here

Spend a day in the City of Adelaide
There really is a lot to see and do in the city – visit the Art Gallery, or a museum, find a park or playground, wander along the banks of the River Torrens.
